Overseas Passenger Terminal Upgrade
Sydney Ports recently completed the second of two major projects to upgrade the iconic Overseas Passenger Terminal (OPT) at Circular Quay.
The project involved extending the wharf by almost 60m to more safely accommodate some of the world’s largest cruise ships. The extension of the wharf eliminates the need for the larger ships to use temporary anchors submerged in Campbell’s Cove.
G.James provided the glass and installation for the south, east and west façades of the passenger terminal, including a lift shaft, external balustrades, travelator and skylights. One of the key architectural features is on level 3 deck with its stunning overhead glazing and lift awning. The glass products featured over 2900m² Low E ToughLam, Low Iron ToughLam and Clear ToughLam.
